I just happened to have some property returned to me after 25 years. Amongst the stuff were some penny stocks i bought in my late teens. Is there some firm that searches out what happened to these companies and if the stocks are worth something today?

I know that they can often go through name changes after buyouts etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.

If that doesn't work, try CIBC Mellon. I took an old stock certificate (Canadian Pacific?) into my broker once and they figured out the pedigree.

Certificates should have name of transfer agent recroded thereon. Often a trust company no longer in existence, having merger with another company. However, should be able to track down the current company. Then enquire from them.
