It is 3g phone,

I use it on rogers, they say technically the phone wont hit 3g on rogers because it isnt configured for their system for the storm, but, speed is the same really.

why do people pay $4-500 for a phone? I've never gone for the latest phone on the market, and only switched to Blackberry last year, but got a curve for $49.99(on a contract). If the phone breaks I'm in the whole another $2-300 or more depending on what phone I decide to get?

The Blackberry Tour is now available for $49.00 at Telus on a contract. Is this whole market for phones people buying within the contract??
I'd hate to spend $400, have the phone break and have to spend another $400?
I'm I just cheap?

This is why..

1) Rogers, Fido Telus, Bell, ect don't sell the same phones right when they come out or until 6 to a year or so later

2) You can only get a PDA phone once every 2 years on a upgrade package, or contract 3 year term sign up

3) Rogers and some other carriers came in with "generated profit policy" that dictates how "low cost" your upgrade will be

4) people like to have phones, they upgrade allot and cant upgrade, so they pay the retail price or close to it.

check out the full retail costs for these phones without contract from telus, rogers, fido, bell, ect...

Just because someone buys the phone using THEIR hardware upgrade, doesn't mean they should give it to you for next to nothing because it was cheap in the first place... go pay full price.
